Wearing a veil always sparks some debate for
brides. Mom's want a veil because it is traditional and it
"completes" the brides look. Daughters' don't want a veil because it
is "traditional" and they don't want to look like the 70's and 80's
bride with that long cathedral tulle draped blusher. Well, lucky for all of us
there are compromises! Designers in the bridal world have heard the
cries for something old, something new, something borrowed, and something
blue. Wether you decide to go the classic veil, vintage birdcage, or a
decorative headpiece, there are so many options for brides to choose from here
are some of our favorites.
The Classic veil. Veils come in different lengths, cathedral,
chapel, floor, fingertip, waist, elbow, shoulder or blusher. They come with
lace trim, beaded, embellished with flowers and other detail, an unfinished
edge, or with satin trim. Veils are accessories, many brides add them to complete their look and compliment their gown. Your veil should never over power your gown, draw from cues in your wedding dress a hint of lace, floral detail, beads and or pearls. Choose a length that suits you, we want to see the bride so remember to choose a length that compliments your height, and the style of your dress. Many times designers will offer options for the length and if not many times your Atelier can accommodate these adjustments in your fitting. Trying on veils can be like trying on dresses, try a few to see what looks good on you. Hair style is also a key factor when choosing your veil.
For the brides who have something old or borrowed, many times you can take lace from your mother or grandmothers dresses to make your veil. The options are vast.
